here is a list of necessities for the fall of 2008:
for the face:
highlighting lotion/cream, a big kabuki brush with a bright pink blush, and liquid eyeliner
for the body:
ankle booties, slim fitting dark wash jeans, prep school blazers and lots of heavy chains
combine these simple things and you can make some fabulous outfits. one of my favorite features of cosmo is when they combine key items to make a weeks worth of work and party appropriate outfits. check out this months feature for some super cute ideas!

i have some great news for those fans of tlc’s fab show “what not to wear:” sally hansen’s new line of makeup “inspired” by the show’s beauty goddess and a woman after the boss’ own heart–carmindy! this line caught my attention in my local ulta and i loved the luminizing primer and loose translucent powder i bought. also have to admit that i loved the price tag. so if you want a cheap alternative that is still chic, try this line. i would be interested to see how the foundations and such hold up so if you do give it a try let us know how it works out! and don’t forget to ALWAYS use carmindy’s signature trick–highlighting the eyes directly under the browbone as well as on the inside corner of the eye with a pale color. it really does make your peepers pop!

dear glossy gals:
just a heads up that if you pick up any magazine this month you will see bold eye makeup on every major runway. so for this fall forget the subtle eyeshadow lining techniques of last year, and spend a few dollars on a deep black liner, as well as some jewel toned liners for a cute look on a night out! a few that i like include the makeup line boots liquid eyeliner in midas, sapphire and gilt. try some out and let me know what you like!
p.s. don’t just stop with the traditional cat eye look, think marker line thick!
keep on shinin, girls and any glossy guys

cosmo says that the freshest way to wear color on your lids this fall is by applying a cream blush. i admit that i was skeptical but the photograph that they have in the september issue is hot–it’s the anti-smoky eye (which is a bit overdone anyway, i think). be sure to use a blush appropriate for your skin tone, because you want it to look light and shimmery rather than bold and garish. why not try it?

hey glossy girls!
while out shopping recently with friends i discovered my new favorite place to buy purses–dsw. yes, the shoe store…but they are currently carrying jessica simpson’s new line of shoes and hand bags and may i just say that jess’ designs are hot. one particular apple green bowler bag (a shape that is definitely in this season) made me drool a little bit before wanting to accost all of the workers in the store and personally thank them for carrying such a beautiful thing! that being said, maybe apple green isn’t for everyone, especially in the fall.
what do you see as the hottest color and style in bags this fall? please share!
shine on, girls!

hey there glossy girls!
i’ve been reading makeup news in all the magazines lately (teen vogue and cosmopolitan especially) as they put out their fall issues…usually these issues depress me as the top mags turn their back early on summer and go for deep and heavy fall looks. i am so proud of this year’s issues that i just had to post! finally, they are allowing a little leeway and even featured bronze techniques in the september issues. so don’t throw away your bronzer yet! and buy a new gold color to cary you over the first dreary months of fall.
leave the heavy black eye to someone else while you shine on :)
need a good shadow? i love MAC cosmetic’s “goldmine” — or if the heavy shimmer scares you, just use your eyeshadow brush in your everyday bronzer and mix with a light shimmery white for a super sheer look!
